Event Season Is Coming: When to Book Botox, Filler, and PRF Before the Holidays in Pikesville, MD

Baltimore's holiday season starts earlier than anyone remembers it starting. Between family photos in early November, Thanksgiving, the first night of Hanukkah landing on December 4 this year, and the office parties that cluster into the first two weekends of December, the stretch of calendar most of us think of as the holidays is really about eight weeks of being photographed. If you're in Pikesville and you want to look like yourself on a good day for all of it, the work starts in September.

We hear the same request every year, usually in the second week of November: “Can you fit me in before Thanksgiving?” Sometimes we can. Most of the time we can't, because almost nothing we do looks its best on day one, and the treatments people want most before an event are the ones that need the most lead time. Botox takes about two weeks to settle. PRF builds collagen over months. Booking early buys you the difference between walking into a room relaxed and spending the night angling your face away from someone's phone.

So here is the whole timeline, counted backward from this year’s holiday calendar. If you'd rather skip the math and just ask us, that's what a consult is for, and you can book a consultation at our Pikesville office any time.

The Short Version

Botox Needs Two Weeks, and Three Is Better

Neurotoxin doesn't work the moment the needle comes out. It takes a few days for the signal between nerve and muscle to quiet down, and according to Cleveland Clinic, most people notice the first change around day three or four, with the full result visible in 2 weeks. Two weeks is the floor. Three is what we'd rather give you, because it leaves room for a two-week check where we can add a few units if one brow is sitting higher than the other, and you can't make a small adjustment the morning of the party.

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, so your last comfortable appointment is Thursday, November 12. Hanukkah begins the evening of Friday, December 4, which moves the deadline up to Friday, November 20. Christmas Day is Friday, December 25, so you have until Friday, December 11. And New Year's Eve is Thursday, December 31, which makes Thursday, December 17 the last appointment we'd feel good about.

One more thing we say every year. If you already know you want your neurotoxin/Botox appointment in November, book it in September. The two weeks before Thanksgiving and the first week of December are the busiest stretch of our year, and those slots fill up fast.

Filler and EZ Gel Want Four Weeks

Anything that adds volume needs a longer runway than a wrinkle relaxer, for two reasons: swelling and settling. Cleveland Clinic notes that bruising, swelling and tenderness after filler injections are usually mild and resolve in a few days, and that holds for most patients. But usually mild is not a plan you build an event around, and dermal filler keeps integrating into the tissue for weeks after the bruise has faded. Four weeks covers both, and it leaves room for a touch-up if one side settles differently than the other.

The volume we build with PRF EZ Gel runs on its own clock. We make it from your own blood, spun here in the office and heated into a moldable gel, so your body does the building rather than a syringe of hyaluronic acid doing it for you. Expect mild swelling for the first day or two, real change around week four, and the peak collagen response somewhere between weeks eight and twelve. If you want it looking its best for one specific night, four weeks is the minimum and six is more comfortable.

For New Year's Eve, that puts your last filler appointment on Thursday, December 3. For an office party the first weekend of December, you're already looking at early November. And facial balancing, which usually means treating more than one area in a single visit, deserves the longer end of that window.

Microneedling with PRF Is a Series, Not an Appointment

This is the one people underestimate, and it's the one we most often have to talk through at the consult. Microneedling with PRF works best as three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart, with collagen continuing to build for weeks after the last visit, and you should plan on 24 to 48 hours of redness after each one. One session gives you a glow that lasts a few days. Three sessions change the texture of your skin.

Running up against a December 31 event and your first session needs to happen by roughly Thursday, October 8. Any later and you'll walk into New Year's Eve two sessions into a three-session plan, which still helps, though you'll be seeing about two thirds of what you paid for. And if you're reading this in late October convinced you've missed the window, start anyway. You'll be glad in February, when everyone else looks tired.

PRF for Hair Runs on a Longer Clock

Hair works on a scale of months. PRF hair restoration runs as several sessions spaced a few weeks apart, and visible density takes a few months to show up, because we're waiting on your growth cycle rather than on a product sitting under your skin. Book a first session in September and you're treating for spring, not for December. It's still worth starting now, because the alternative is calling us in March wishing you had.

The Pikesville Calendar, Specifically

Baltimore's event season is more compressed than people remember, and in Pikesville it starts earlier than it does in the rest of the county. Hanukkah runs from the evening of Friday, December 4 through Saturday, December 12 this year, so the first round of family gatherings and photographs happens before a lot of people have thought about their office party at all. Family photos usually get shot the first two weekends of November, Thanksgiving lands Thursday, November 26, office parties cluster into the first and second weekends of December, and then Christmas and New Year's Eve close it out on Friday, December 25 and Thursday, December 31.

Which means that if November photos are on your list, your Botox deadline isn't in November at all. It's the last week of October, roughly seven weeks from the day this posts.

What to Do This Month

Pick one event. Not all of them, just one, the one you'd be annoyed to look tired at. Count backward using the table above, put that date in your phone, and call us at (410) 205-6160 to book it even if the appointment is nine weeks out. If you're not sure which treatment you're actually asking for, our Treatment Finder Quiz takes a couple of minutes and gives you somewhere to start before you pick up the phone.

Ready to Get Ahead of December?

The people who look effortless in December booked in September, and there's nothing mysterious about it. We see patients from Pikesville, Owings Mills, Mount Washington, Reisterstown, and throughout the Baltimore area, and the stretch between Thanksgiving and New Year's fills faster every year.

Call (410) 205-6160 or book a consultation at our Pikesville office, and we’ll tell you whether the timeline still works for what you have in mind. Prices are as follows: $50 for a standard consultation and $100 for a medical weight loss consultation. Your deposit can go towards treatments or products.
